Mele Kalikimaka feat. The American Sirens
Can you believe that it’s already? December. Are you ready to feel the holiday vibe? Are you ready to fill your face with eggnog and cookies and hangout with family (virtually and socially distanced, of course). I sure am. This is my favorite time of year because there really is magic in the air and no matter who you are and whether you believe in Santa Claus, Krampas, or The Grinch (I believe in all 3 just to be safe), there is a certain spark of wonder around us all. People seem to smile a little easier, and the music... the music is filled with very glad tidings. Let's be honest, after the year we've all gone through together, we could all use a holiday, and what better soundtrack than the strains of peace on earth and goodwill towards men.
So it is in that spirit that I dove into this song. It's hard to hear "Mele Kalikimaka" and not smile. There's something about this song that makes my soul bounce up and down like it's had too many m&m's. I wanted a version that honored the original, but was maybe a bit more modern, so I got to work and reached out to some old friends to help sing the parts that were much better suited to, shall we say, higher voices.
The American Sirens, (Ale, Lindsey, and Rachel), came through in a BIG way. Not only did they learn the harmonies, but they choreographed the whole thing, and looked good doing it. I'm pretty sure they steal the show, but they're mega-talented, so I'm happy to hand over the lime light to a group who's so worthy of it.
If you get a moment and feel like following The American Sirens, here are their links, they'd be thrilled to have you:
Thank you for your time, and have a happy and safe holiday.
